Festival is child’s play

The parade is just the start of a great day of activities for families at the Spirit of Okotoks Weekend.

The Children’s Festival, formerly the Okotoks Youth Festival, will follow this year’s Spirit of Okotoks Parade on Saturday, June 21 and continue on June 22 to conclude a loaded weekend of family activies.

Saturday promises an afternoon packed with live performances and hands-on art activities for all ages from 12-4 p.m. at Ethel Tucker Park. There is continuous entertainment and a host of different crafts, face painting, games, clowns and a range of other family friendly events for all to enjoy.

This year there will be entertainment bilingual children’s musician Will Stroet and from Hoja, an a cappella group that performs songs from the 1950s to present day. Patrons will be amazed Hoja can perform a wide variety of music without the use of instruments.

The free festival is held in the beautiful setting of Ethel Tucker Centennial Park, located on Riverside Drive, and runs from noon to 4 p.m.

The fun continues on Sunday at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre when Madragora Circo, a wordless theatre play featuring clowns perform using circus skills, acrobatics and music, hits the stage for 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. shows.

The Rotary Performing Arts Centre is locating in the heart of Olde Towne Okotoks at 3 Elma Street E.
