The Okotoks spray park is the perfect place to take children to beat the heat this summer.
Community services manager Susan Laurin said the spray park has something for children of all ages with colourful water cannons, sprayers and sprinklers that shoot up from the ground. The main attraction is a large bucket that tips over spilling its load of water on anyone underneath.
Admission to the park is free. The park is located next to the Okotoks Recreation Centre on Milligan Drive.
Laurin explained said the water used in the park is recycled.
“We have a recirculation system, it’s very similar to the swimming pool,” she said. “Once it’s filled there’s a big holding tank buried under ground and that water continues to circulate.”
Laurin said the park is designed so water drains to the centre and it is then filtered and disinfected before being put back into the holding tank.
The park is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days per week, weather permitting. She said the park is typically open on days when the temperatures are above 20 C.
The Spray Park at the Okotoks Recreation Centre is one of the best places in town to beat the heat in the summer.
