Slip on your cowboy boots for Guy Weadick Days Rodeo weekend. This year will be the event’s second year with professional rodeo returningto town.
Trish Seitz, rodeo liaison for C5 Rodeo Company, and High River Agricultural Society manager Justin Ament are excited to bring this festive event to the community of High River.
Legends of rodeo will be a major focus this year, according to Seitz.
“Last year, it was a real focus on the Wild West rodeo,” she said. “We are still implementing that element, (but) we wanted to work off of the new … Rooted in People theme.”
The ag society is working with the concept Back to Our Rodeo Roots, she added. The theme will feature Guy Weadick himself, Seitz noted.
The weekend will kick off on June 22 with the annual chuckwagon races. These races are set to begin at 7 p.m every night until June 24. June 25 will see a 4 p.m. start.
The rodeo portion of the festivities will begin on Friday, June 23, at 5 p.m. for “Date Night with Guy Weadick and Florence Ladue”, according to Seitz.
Saturday is said to be a fun packed event with rodeo events during the day and a show beginning at 1 p.m. Stay tuned for an evening show featuring Trevor Panczak at 9 p.m. in the Beer Gardens.
Sunday will dedicate its rodeo show to the Little Britches kids for Sunday Funday at 1 p.m.
Guy Weadick Days will be held June 22 to 25 at the High River Agricultural Grounds. Tickets are available at www.highriverag.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the ag grounds.
