This blast-from-the-past event is organized each summer by Marvin Garriott, owner of Marv’s Classic Soda Shop on Centre Avenue, and draws hundreds of visitors, tourists and locals alike.
Garriott’s idea was to create an event that was fun for the whole community while celebrating his favourite era – the 1950s.
“It’s such a great family outing,” Garriott said. “They like the atmosphere, they love the band and the food’s always good.”
Live classic ’50s rock and roll music will once again take the stage in the parking lot behind the soda shop.
Garriott will also serve hot dogs and hamburgers behind his shop, as well as his unique invention Marvello carbonated ice cream from his pink 1961 International Harvester Metro truck.
The classic rock ‘n’ roll event will also feature the ever-popular classic car show ‘n’ shine showcasing a great assortment of classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.
The fun runs from noon to 4 p.m., with a charity pancake breakfast taking place before the event at 8 a.m. on First Street SW.
