Black Diamond rocks the ’50s with music and cars

Break out your best Elvis Presley or Marilyn Monroe costume and head to Black Diamond on July 27 for Marv’s sixth annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Classic.

The event was spearheaded by Marvin Garriott, owner of Marv’s Classic Soda Shop on Centre Avenue. The idea was to create an event that was fun for the whole community and celebrate the 1950s culture that Garriott loves so much.

“I decided, since we’re kind of a rock ‘n’ roll place, we should have a rock ‘n’ roll event,” Garriott said.

Live classic rock will once again take the stage in the parking lot behind the soda shop where Marty Antonini will perform classic ’50s style rock ‘n’ roll favourites.

Garriott will also serve his unique Marvello carbonated ice cream, along with hot dogs and hamburgers out of his refurbished milk delivery truck.

The classic rock ‘n’ roll event will also feature the ever-popular classic car show ‘n’ shine showcasing a great assortment of classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Hundreds of people came out every year for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Classic. The fun runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
